Ich hatte in den letzten 3 Wochen (Jan. 2009) permanent Probleme mit meinem Wlan unter Ubuntu. Es kam zum kompletten einfrieren des Ubuntu Systems sobald ich Wlan benutzt habe. Das Numlock Symbol an meinem T61 blinkte und das wars. Half nur ein kompletter Neustart. Das hat mich beinahe zum Wahnsinn getrieben da das System in absolut unregelmäßigen Abständen abgeschmiert ist. Manchmal nach 5 Minuten, manchmal nach 2 Stunden und damit nicht mehr wirklich benutzbar war.

Nun scheine ich das Problem gelößt zu haben (Daumendrück). Ich habe einen Bugreport mit meinem Wlan Modul innerhalb von Ubuntu gefunden. Es wird genau mein Problem beschrieben. Der User "syko21" schreibt dort:

 Try compiling this iwlagn module, http://www.orbit-lab.org/kernel/compat-wireless-2.6/2008/10/compat-wireless-2008-10-01.tar.bz2 .
 Extract the archive to your home directory then follow these steps

 sudo apt-get install build-essential
 cd compat*
 make
 sudo make install

 Then restart your computer. It worked perfectly for me, if it works for more people perhaps the default ubuntu module will be upgraded.

 PS> I was not able to test on 802.11g since I only use n and b.

Das benannte Wlan Modul hat bei mir nicht funktioniert. Allerdings funktionierte bei mir das hier: [1]

Einfach mit

 tar -xjvf compat-wireless-2009* 

auspacken, anschließend:

 cd compat*
 make
 sudo make install

ausführen. Ich habe danach einmal durchgestartet, da ich beim manuellen Laden des Moduls mit "sudo unload bzw. sudo load" eine Fehlermeldung bekommen habe. Seitdem funktioniert mein Wlan wieder ohne einfrieren. Ich hoffe das bleibt so. Man, hat mich das hier Nerven gekostet!
